Key Flashing on Dash : vivo

Post by ahmedy »

Guys I need your help with the flashing key on our Polo Vivo.

I broke the key blade swivle, so I bought a new housing etc and basically just dismantled it to get the swivle part and put it back in my original remote.

Now the car doesn't start after I have changed everything. The doors lock and unlock. I did notice however that it starts with the spare key and it starts with thereafter it starts with the new key however the key flashes on the dashboard

What the heck is happening???

Is there a small chip or something which I should move over from the top of the housing??

Yes but be careful, it's basically a magnet in a glass housing and can easily be broken

Thanks guys, it was that small glass tube. I did not transfer it,I just re-used that housing and transferred everything to it. The glass tube looked very fragile so I didn't try to remove it as I did not want to break it.

Out of curiosity, where does one get that piece when making a new key if you have lost your old one?

You don't. Can only get complete key from vw and recode it to car. So don't break it
