Brake fluid leaking

Post by Khiba »

Hi. The Citi golf is leaking brake fluid by the rear driver wheel. What's causing this and how can it be fixed. I have to top up the fluid weekly.

Brake slave cylinder most likely has a seal or two leaking.
Rebuild slave cylinder with a seal kit, or fit a new slave cylinder.
Bleed whole brake system with fresh fluid.
Done.

New slave at goldwagen is cheaper than a seal kit. Change it(take sample when you go)

Hi. Changed the slave and brake shoes on both rear wheels. The brakes were bled but I now I have to pump them several times to stop the car. Not bled properly maybe?

Did you bleed all 4 wheels? Sounds like air in the system

:iagree: , you probably bleeding it incorrectly , get it once wrong and you'll have to start again.

Start from RL, RR, FL, FR
Pump, hold brake pedal , open valve and close when the fluid exiting flow slows down, release brake pedal and repeat. have to been consistent.
Ensure that reservoir does not go below min level.

It's easier to see if you bled it properly when using a clear pipe on the valve and into a bottle.
