Good day guys,
I got the gearbox serviced this week, used Liqui Moly 8100. Today I took a drive to Okahandja (60kms from Windhoek). On my way back the PRNDS started flashing. And then the power cut out. I pulled over, switched of and back on, limped back to my mech. Did a diagnosis and found that the gearbox temperature exceeded upper limit. The mech says he thinks it might be the oil. I did some research before I bought the liqui moly and most people says its good oil and it reduces the box temperature.
The outside temp on the road was 36 degrees.
Did anyone have this problem before?

Re: MKv DSG Gearbox overheating with Liqui Moly 8100
The oil has been used by many without issue so I doubt its that. Was there any sign of clutch slip during your drive? It is possible that the gearbox is overfilled but I doubt it would raise temperatures to the point of limp mode. I would check oil levels and do the clutch calibrations again.

No there were no slipping. Car ran like a dream. Much smoother shifts and way more responsive when shifting manually. Only 4.5 liters of oil was used. So I’m thinking there might not be enough oil in. I spoke to the local revo tuner earlier this morning about box calibration and he said its not necessary. Thinking i must go to VW tomorrow morning and get their opinion.

Re: MKv DSG Gearbox overheating with Liqui Moly 8100
Went to see CPi, Revo and VW. All of them say its the oil. I should rather get the oem oil. But i mean every i read no-one has issues with the LM. And the temperature is not so different from SA. Also the workshop manager at VW said it might be the box that has been overfilled. So what im thinking is to check to oil level first and then just replace the oil and filter again.

ok so you filled 4.5 l - are you sure you drained 4.5l. Sometimes the guys forget to remove the little filler plastic at the drain and then the box does not drain as much as it should.

Yes, I agree. Got the oil from the dealer yesterday. Going to change oil next week.Baldwin02002 wrote:Will rather go for OEM oil.
