When a wheel bearing is planning to seize and ruin your day somewhere on the freeway it does this:

I did not experience it but i was lucky to spot it before it could do harm. This is when i was replacing the rear wheel bearings I discovered that the driver’s side was on its way out.



So i had to crack it and rip it out off the stub axle.

This happened to me with my jetta MK2 along time ago, in the middle of traffic, I thought the rear brakes locked so I moered it in gear and started driving untill the bearing broke. 2km away from home
