Polo 1.2 TSi DSG clutch, slipping after 30k kms.

Post by Dale »

Hi guys,

So I have a RANT, bought this car new for 300k and 30k kms later the clutch is busy going, I mean W.T.F.F ?

Do I let Volkswagen uplift this car and tell the bank I refuse to pay because quite frankly I do not want to drive a low mileage car which gearbox guts had to be replaced because **** part design.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with this model? Please share your experience.

Thanks.

aaah the old dg200 kak gear box.

The 1.2tsi doesn't even have a lot of torque..

Just let them replace it... No biggy throwing your toys. Bank is also going to laugh at you

It wont be as easy as that, The bank and the manufacturer has nothing to do with each other. Your finance contract is between you and the bank. So if you refuse to pay, The bank will come after you for it. K@k idea TBH

Now the other route would be to go the CPA route, However even in this instance by law you are required to give the manufacturer the opportunity to attend to the fault. Surely the car is still under warranty?

Just get VW/dealer to fix it

As it has already been highlighted throwing toys doesn't work in this instance. VW might come back and say it was due to your driving

Just get the car sorted, it's still under warranty

All the best

Thanks for the quick response,

Does VW repair or replace clutches and or gearboxes themselves or do they send it to a reputable gearbox repairer?

Clutch usualy themself , gearbox depends from town to town , mostly they have technicians repairing gearbox's inhouse

Depends whats wrong, VW will never repair a broken gearbox via a 3rd party if the car is under warranty, They will just replace it with a new one.
Doubt that will happen in your case, Problem seems localised to clutches or mechatronics unit

Depends the problem yes , if its a noisy gearbox they can send it to a gearbox place for repairs if they dont have they proper qualified people . But like @G-spot mentioned this is a small issue , keep your cool talking to them , they can help you even if its a wear and tear part. Ill be furious myself only getting 30k on a clutch , lets just hope theres no hot spots on the flywheel

If the process fineshed correct,y then no. If it failed somewhere then yes.
Why mess with a car that is in warranty. Just drop it there and let them fix it.
Dsg clutch wear can be limited by your driving style. If you spendna lot of time in traffic and you do brake creeping expect them not to last.

:iagree: What panic said.

Have a buddy that had the same on his Ford ST3 Focus , took it in under warranty (32k kms) , Ford had one look at the Flywheel one look and rejected the repair under warranty , he then had to pay out his pocket for the repair.

Take it from the the early Polo TSi owners , just drop it off at VW , it will come off the warranty as its sold as a auto, no special driving needed , the box is known to have mechatronic and clutch failures.

If they have stock you'll have your car in 2 days. Irritate them for a loan car.

Which VW dealership will you be using to investigate this issue for you?
