Vw citi rox 1.4i to 2.0 8v

Post by Dirka »

Hi guys

Just want some advice based on the conversion to 2.0 8v
Is the gearbox of the 1.4i the same as the 2.0 8v ady or weaker?

Will everything just fit as many people say or is there mods to be done?

You will need to change ecu and starter and the gearbox will work yes however you will need to get a 9bolt 210mm flywheel and clutch kit

Shot on that one.

Depends on what you want the conversion for. Had a mate a while back that did the" 2.6 kombi piston" conversion on his 1.6 i and that thing farked of my man. Like you said, the gearbox ran out of steam at arround 200km/h and got there fast.

IMO the ratios are abit short. Could have it modified at your local gearbox expert??

Why would you want to go over 200km/h with a citi anyway? Its more than enough. A citi is not built for top speed

That car gets a lekker service all the time every time but hey! I found myself a ROX 1.6 with a performance exhaust, I’m busy fixing this and that on it, will probably take it for a spin this weekend.

Fun times ahead, i’m replacing timing belt, rear wheel bearings, handbrake cables, going bigger brake discs, temperature switch, clean throttle body, put performance filter, front wheel bearings, clean airflow sensor, replace clutch kit, service CV’s and and and.

My thoughts too.

Thats bs, I had 2 ADY golfs and used the stock starter. Your timing was probably too far advanced causing the engine to turn harder when hot.

OP, just search on the forum for the 2litre conversion. It has been discussed to death and back.

Your motor has an air presure sensor. Just be carefull what and how you clean it..

What zorst is fitted, size, back to front, branch mani, etc?

Remember to get the tensioner/idler for the cambelt aswell.

On the filter- just get a decent filtering one, crapp make = crapp filtration= dust in motor= gringing paste on working bits........
