I am sure this question has been asked but here I go.
How much more stress would it be to fit the AAA (VR6 fir golf mk3) instead af a AGU (1.8T 20V mk4) engine into my caddy mk1?
Engine mounting mods?
Will there be room left to add a turbo in future?
Will the FFZ box fit the AAA?
Basically how many hickups to prepair for?

Engine mounts you will need to either fabricate or import a kit.
VR motor does not fit on FFZ box.
VR motor makes the front on a mk1 heavy abd you can expect some oversteer issues.
Brakes needs to be upgraded.
Will be a very tight sqeeze to fit a turbo and at radiator end of things space becomes very limited, let alone fitting an intercooler too.
20vt motors in a mk1 is becoming more and more preferred engine swap options.
You can get a mounting kit locally and 20vt motor will fit your FFZ box. Weight distribution also far better.

Re: VR6 (AAA) fit to caddy mk1
and then all kinds of handling and braking upgrades required as mentioned by papajo. I have driven mk1's with vr engines in and it's an absolute dog.Zoltan2222 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 10:10 pm I am sure this question has been asked but here I go.

Engine mounting mods? Yes - you have to manufacture everything and make a subframe to fit the mk1 for the rear mounts.
Will there be room left to add a turbo in future? Yes - have seen it done. TONS of work
Will the FFZ box fit the AAA? NO
Basically how many hickups to prepair for? ABOUT 200% more work than a 1.8t.

Understeers big time. ONLY thing and LITERALLY the ONLY thing is that it sounds cool. period.

Came across this link regarding the AGU engine, numbers look interesting indeed.

Thanks, I also found thise specs and also stumbled apon the specs of an AUQ engine, even beter and the same price as AGU.
But while reading the AUQ specs I noticed that it had VVT, but for fuel saving reasons, can this VVT be used to increase performance in anyway?

No it's an emissions control at idle device. It literally closes the valve overlap by expanding the chain between the two pilleys ie. Effectively making the chain shorter.
