Cracked block

Post by cities 1.4+vat »

Hi all
Just a quick question for all vw gurus
My block has a small crack on the block it's just under where the distributor sits on the rounded part if that makes sense to anyone. Would this cause a performance issue in the engine or is it ok I put pratley over it the small oil leak has stopped. It's a turbo block came off a passat I think but its normally aspirated now running 8v head on it

We can give a more accurate answer if you indicatethe exact spot on a picture. Easier to visualise than trying to understand words and then visualise.

Just curious. You said it's a turbo block from a Passat, I've never heard of a turbo Passat and neither a 4 cylinder one either. What is the first part of the engine number of this motor? I would be interested to know so that I can go find this unicorn motor for myself.

No disrespect intended, just genuine interest.

That round hole where distributor casing fit has an o-ring on the distributor casing and sonmetimes a thin round velenoid type paper ring on the casing shoulder. If that is not there, you nay end up having an oil sweat or leak. May be worth checking it out unless if is a definite visible crack.

If you want to start an internet fight over a damn engine code, you need psychological help. And grammar lessons...

If there is a definite crack you can have it welded or why not speak to sarel directly and let him sort it for you?

You really think I'm white?

I haven't been that colour since I was 9.

Get off of your high horse you puny hormonal teenaged jizz stain.

It appears to me that you have completely bought into the broken logic of the propaganda state we all have to share. Stop being an Afrikaans word for box, grow up and wipe the crap from your eyes. If I'm racist, then what are you?

You had a bad attitude from the start of this thread, you talked trash about a long standing and respected builder and tuner and made insinuating comments about the quality of a car you bought from him. If you had any grievances regarding your purchase you should have gone back to the guy and afforded him the chance to rectify any faults that he may have been responsible for. Making it public and receiving criticism for doing so is all on you.

Catch a wake up and adjust your attitude, otherwise leave.
