2005 Citi 1.4i lower steering column bearing help.
Hi guys. I need to change the lower steering column bearing in my '05 VW Citi. Does anyone know the procedure of replacing this part as it seems quite a pain to get to? It looks like the whole steering column housing is riveted to the body? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. Quite urgent unfortunately. My whole steering feels loose and is rattling. It's getting worse day by day. Was hoping to do the job before month end. Do you perhaps know where one might find a new bearing and the price? Thanks

You can get the bearing at Goldwagen at less than 200 bucks, it will be wise to do both the top and the bottom bearings one time.
The one on the pic is the bottom bearing.

Thanks so much, luckily not too expensive. Will definitely do both, just need to figure out how I'm going to get to the bearings, I've never done anything like this. I guess the ignition barrel needs to be removed and obviously the collar at the bottom of the column..?

Search below thread for the top part that is if you are keen on doing both at one shot.
I took snaps from the MK2 workshop manual, hope it works.

Thanks, it is much appreciated. It doesn't look too dramatic apart from the shear head bolts but I'll get her done You've been of great help. Thank you

You are welcome, you can use a chisel to undo the bolts and replace them.
