You're welcome, I needed this information myself so I thought I would share it since info on the Shurlock Box isn't really documented anywhere.

Good day

I'm having a problem with my dash temp gauge not working at all.
All other instruments on the cluster work.

What I have done so far:
1. Replaced water temp sensor.
Verified water temp sensor is working.
Used a multi meter to check resistance while placing sensor in hot water.
2. Traced the yellow/red wire from water temp sensor pin 4 to shurlock box T28/3 - Coolant Temp Sensor (wire OK not broken).
3. Swapped out shurlock box and cluster from another citi golf that was functional,
still had the same problem (dash temp gauge not working at all).

4. The shurlock box and cluster from the faulty car was then put in the working citi golf to verify if the units were ok.
This was found to be in working order.

What I would like to know:
The water temp sensor pin 4 yellow/red wire goes to the shurlock box T28/3 - Coolant Temp Sensor (pin 3).
I assume from the shurlock box in now goes to the cluster but which wire will this be?

Did you check all the ground wire connections?

Are the rest of things on cluster working, only thing not working is the temp gauge?

Good day PapaJo

I have checked the earth on the 4 pin sensor that is OK.

I have not checked the earth connection for:
Shurlock Box T12/10 - Ground (Brown)
Citi Golf Cluster T8/8 - Ground (Brown)
Will check it out

Everything else on the cluster is working no problem, only the temp gauge that does not work at all.
But like i said if this "faulty" cluster is put into the other car then everything on the cluster works including the temp gauge.

At first the temp gauge started playing around from min temp to operating temp then it stopped working at all.

Thanks

Could be that the gauge has played up if it is not a bad contact or bad cluster ground.

2005 model has velocity style dash. Does it have the velocity wiring harness or a spliced mp9 to new spec wiring?

Find the plug with the wiring going to dash that has the distributor plug on it and connect the middle wire to pin 7 on tp100 if you have tp100 installed.

The battery light on my city golf doesn't come on. I traced the blue D+ wire from the alternator and it went straight to the shurlock box. The pin on the shurlock box where it is plugged on is not connected to anything, there is an open circuit on the printed circuit board. Now I don't know if they perhaps replaced the shurlock box with a wrong one.

Are PINS (T28/6 & T28/7) for front ,back and side indicators?

And my last question would be, what would i have to do or what can i do to get LED indicators to work as my year model MK1 Golf does not have the Flasher relay that i can just swop out with LED flasher relay. Wish i new that before i bought the relay but anyways. I bought me the 7" Jeep wrangler headlights for my mk1 but now i cant use my indicators in the headlight yet cause i dont have a flasher relay but the Sherlock box. can i just swop pin /6 & /7 around or what mod can i do to make my LED indicators work.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

As per pinout from Pynoxim, the answer is yes. T28/6 for left and T28/7 for right.

Ok sweet i just want to make double sure. so the left is for front, back & side fender indicator and Right for Front ,back and side?

And if i swop /6 & /7 around (wil that change the polarity so that it will make the flickers blink slower like for the LED's?

Thanks in advance.

Awe mense. I have a serious problem. My citi golf was at workshop and needed key coding due to immobilizer not recognizing the transponder. So the guys at the workshop ended up taking out my original computer box and inserted their bypass box to start and move the car in and out of the garage. So now, the electrician coded the key and cluster, tested the key and the error was removed but the computer box was not plugged. Cool, then plugged in the bypass box and started the car with no error on dashboard. So after the electrician tested multiple times, it was working just fine. So the workshop guys only realized later that they plugged the wrong box and put in the correct one. Now the immobilizer error is back, so how do I fix this

Re: Citi Golf Shurlock Box and Cluster Pin-outs

Good day VW friends, My name is Eddie, I have recently bought myself a 2004 Citi Golf Chico 1.4, the previous owner had the engine rebuilt and the mechanic at the time apparently blew the "Immobilizer Unit" bit I suspect it was this black box 450FT0391-00 SHURLOK, as I found 2 of them in the car, well to cut the story short, I removed 3of the autowatch Immobilizer Units(not sure why there were 3 units wired in) fixe all the botched wires end reconnected the wires that was cut off like the green and white and the black and green for the indicators, pin out T28/6 & T28/7 and T12/2 & T12/3, I repaced the fuse in slot 15 - "POWER SUPPLY MODULE" and it blew the fuse in slot 32 - "HAZARD AND TURN SIGNAL" after trying to see why this was happening I disconnected all the wires from the indicators from there sockets and inserted a new 10amp fuse the cluster came to life and the Hazard lights on the cluster started flicking non stop, now I do not know if I have a black box issue or something else that might be causing this error, the car drives like a dream and everything else is working except for the indicators. o yes, I removed 2 LED indicators from the front bumper, I think that had something to do with the problem as I know you need a LED flasher unit for these as I had similar on my beetle. any assistance would be much appreciated as I am currently at a loss and do not know where else to look for the problem. I have even thought of getting one of those diagnostic tools on takealot to find the faulty component.

Sounds like you may have a permanent power source loop to the flasher relay.

There is unfortunately no easy way or way to explain to you, other than tracing the wires one by one from end to end and writing down where it is connected. That’s the only way and having a wiring diagram to identify wire colours and the terminations.

If you have a multi meter, use it to measure the wires out from end to end.
