Will a Golf 6/7 gti gear knob fit mk5 gti?

Hi all.

Was wondering if the mk6/7 style gear knob will fit on the mk5 gear lever.

My original mk5 knob is well worn but the agents want more than 3k for a replacement!

Mk 6 and 7 ones are on Ebay for much less.

Would appreciate your feedback thanks.

Hi. Did you cut the gear lever? I see some posts where people cut about a cm off. I dont want to do that!

Golf 6 straight fit Golf 7 you will need to cut the gear lever.
