Car won't start - please help!

I have a 2010 polo vivo which decided not to start.
A week earlier the car went for a service(private mechanic) who said even though the cars done only 80,000 it seem alot older ( I bought it at 20,000 in 2011)

Funnily enough a week later the car won't start. Hmmm and he says there is no compression and requires an engine overhaul. Don't think I believe him, just sounds too convenient for him.

When I switch car on, the dashboard switches off and there is a clicking sound from the bonnet. The car won't start with cables but only with a jump start.

Any advice really would be appreciated!!!

Where about are you based? See if you can scan it with vcds.
