TDI MK5 2009 Low Beam light propblem

Post by Johan S »

Hi everyone, newbie here.I really hope I'm following the correct procedure by posting here?

Hope someone can give me some advise on my VW TDI MK5. The driver side Low beam light suddenly went from bright white to a "blue-ish -purple color" and then all the sudden just went out. How would I know if its the ballast, globe or igniter? Maybe I should mention whenever I unlock the car using immobilizer button on the key then the light will flicker and then stay OFF.

THANK YOU

Sounds like common symptoms of the bulb dying out. Just need to replace the bulb. Not 100% sure how easy the bulbs are removed on the mk5, but if you want to be sure, swap the bulbs around right to left.
Also, best to replace both at once, usually the one goes quite soon after the other.

I agree with Belix, this happened to my girlfriends sisters Tiguan a while back, we had both xenon bulbs replaced.
