Parts ordered from Amazon - your views

Post by Dale »

I have recently got a quote from VW on a new timing chain and tensioner - R2800.

I have searched for an alternative on amazon which came up with a kit for $30 discounted -

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074F ... em_1p_0_ti

Although way cheaper, is this of a lesser quality and not recommended?

Thanks

Price difference is about R300 compared to agents, give or take. Was just wondering on the quality from amazon, how long will it last and will it fail?

I wouldn't trust such critical parts from Amazon.

Question: Is this a China made gear?
Answer: yes, dear, it is not the oem, they are aftermarket replacement, but in good working condition.

Also consider when you buying from Amazon, consider the postage/courier. I purchased from eBay, it took 2+ months via SAPO and I had to pay a fee at SAPO when collecting. With all the time, effort and costs it's sometimes not worth it.

Isn't everything made in China nowadays? Just a less of a quality factory used perhaps? Also, GW parts, where are they made?

Good example, Midas, where I bought a fuel filter for, make is mann, exactly the same as the one from VW with a mann laser embossed logo but VW inked part number, just different packaging.
