So ANY naturally aspirated engine has the same upgrade path. Ie get more air in so you can add more fuel.
So always the same story and it does not change ever.
Gaslfow, cam, exhaust, bigger capacity, turbo or suoercharge to force more air in. That's it.
Choose your poison.

276 cam will work but will need to be mapped/chipped in order to get the most out of it.

your biggest limitation at the moment is the management. I suggest you find a good tuner and go standalone management

eventually you'll get bored of the power again, all routes ends to a 2l 8valve then eventually a 16 valve.

Cam is much of a personal choice but it's plenty for a 1.4.
It will only damage the lifters if it's badly made. So stick to the good stuff.
Estas mainly in SA. Not that make that start with S and ends with K.

@ Oshy: I too have a 1.4i MPI Citi and have read a truck load of threads on this here forum and eventually it comes down to the same thing 2l 8v/16v. Depends on preference and depth of pockets.

Instead of paying school fees for lessons already learnt. Rather save towards the conversion. Its the route I have decided on. If only going 1.9tdi from a sportline was a feasible option that would be sooooooo awesome.

You already have branch and pipes, its a 1.4 after all?

1.9 tdi is an option but it is very expensive and you need a complete crashed car so you have the engine harnass , the fuel coolers and the key and cluster. Without that you can't make it run. I know somebody that did it into a caddy pickup but it was a lot of man hours and a lot of money

 So 2.0 8v is the most sensible then.

That caddy must be something special to drive.

If you search you can find the thread, there's a video of the car. The acceleration is brutal.

Best bang for buck ADY/AFX/2E swop.

The first 2 used MP9 ECU's which means it's easier to install with existing wiring, etc. The 2E used Digifant which had an airflow meter, this makes it a better candidate for an aftermarket ECU rather than a remapped stock ECU like the first 2 motors.

The ins and outs of this swop have been discussing countless times, so a search will yield tonnes of results.

My advice is to research all the parts you need before you buy a motor, speak to a mechanic/tuner about ECU options, also find out about upgrades and "hidden" costs beforehand.

Finally the classic rule of modifying, take what you think it's gonna cost and double the amount to come to something closer to reality.

@missioner: Thanks bra, will search for the vids of that caddy. If cash was not an issue that would be the goal :driving: lol

and "the classic rule of modifying, take what you think it's gonna cost and double the amount to come to something closer to reality." this is a harsh and sad reality to face. Especially since I'm not technically inclined and when the time comes will have to have it done at a workshop.

Either 8v performance or bug panic to get it done. Luckily its not a daily.

OP, do the swop give the rest of us hope!!!
