ABF Spluttering/ misfiring

Post by Burn »

Hi All

Need some help urgently on my mk1 ABF, Once vehicle reaches optimum temperature it starts to splutter or like reach a dead spot and then misfired back fires and is back to normal. 1st and 2nd can pull through rev range with no issue, problem comes in from 3rd after 3000rpm

I have changed fuel pump. Velo pump
Dizzy cap and rotor
All leads and Bosch coil
Fitted a new module ( Tp100 if I am not mistaken) last week and the problem has reduced substantially but is till present.
I also changer power and earth for the managment and redone vehicle earth.
Changed relay for fuel pump.
Car was tuned 2 weeks back at RBTS. Ross said it wasn't the map.

Any and all help will be highly appreciated

sounds like a tuning issue. Remeber things like water temp compensation and dwell time could cause what you are finding.
Also have you changed the plugs. You don't say.
Also try changing the plug gap - make it smaller.

No I did not test fuel pressure. Assumed it would be 100% since I put a new pump.
Should I add a Fuel pressure regulator ?

There is already a fuel pressure regulator. He is suggesting that you just check it. Not saying you should add one. There could be other reasons why the pressure drops.
