Citi Golf 1.8i mp9 fuel pump issue

Post by Theo.07 »

Hi Guys

I am having issues with my Citi Rline. Something weird is happening with my car....
I locked the car and came in the house when I got home today but when I went outside I could hear the fuel pump priming when I put the key in the ignition it primes for a few seconds like normal then goes off car starts on the turn no issues. So I locked it came inside but when I went outside again the noise from the pump is on again. So I opened the bonnet to check for leaks and there's nothing. But I can hear fuel passing through the fuel rail.

What could be the issue? Any advice or help will really be appreciated. :bang:

Under the dashboard on the drivers side. Theres 2 Relays, 1 will be for the wipers. IIRC It's the brown relay. You will need to strip the dash trim on the drivers side though
Yip I still got my 1.4 Citi

Hi Guys
So i managed to get to the relays without stripping the dash...
what a mission... pulled both relays out, 1 relay was filled with water,(probabaly more water thats in CT dams  )
went to gw and bought 2 relays and fitted them have been monitoring the car and everything seems to be ok...

Now to find where that water came from as we recently had some hectic storms in Jhb.
Any ideas???

Yup through the rain train , into the fresh air intake under the dash onto the relay. Clean out the rain tray drains.

T a fuel pressure gauge onto the fuel rail supply line and see what the rail pressure is. Should be 3 bar with your foot flat or the vacuum line to the regulator disconnected. Around 2.6 bar with the vacuum on.

I have a 2007 golf rline 1.8 and recently noticed a oil leak of some sort at the rear passenger side. Could this be? I know the fuel pump is located there, could that be faulty perhaps?

Thanks!
