105 000km oil service required

Post by smitbrandon »

Good morning,

I'm looking for a RMi approved service centre in or around Alberton area to do a standard oil service on my 2012 Audi A3 1.4tfsi

Best quote this far is BOSCH in Alberton City for R1500

Can anyone advise of this is more or less the right price for a oil service?

I had a polo 9n3 1.4i trendline before this so I never did individual oil services before, the oil was always done with the standard service.

Your advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

If they change just oil and filter I suppose it is about right.
But a regular service should involve oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, cabin filter.
Let them give you a breakdown.
If you change the items I mention then 1500 is very cheap

The 15000km, 45000km, 75000km and 105000km(etc) are normally just oil changes anyway. These are called Minor services.

The services without a 5 in them are usually more comprehensive, like Panic was describing. Those are called Major services.

On average a Minor should cost between R1000 and R1500. A Major, excluding extra faults can go up to R3500. These are about what you should expect at a franchise RMI workshop.

As you are now reaching 105000km please be prepared for extra repairs to be needed on your car, typical things like a alternator belt, wiper blades and also some brake work may be needed. Beyond those there should not be any big surprises.

Bosch franchises are a good choice and usually have quality technicians and good service.

Good luck.

Why the need for an RMI approved service centre? Aftermarket warranty?

Thanks panic, I understand the the regular service but the oil service is all new to me. Technician at Audi in The Glen said they include coolant flush, fuel injection flush (or something in that line) with the oil service for R2800? First time I hear of a fuel flush or clean out?

It's crazy considering the oil service is every 15k and standard service every 30k? Could this be correct?

Yes... The very reason.. Wish at least oil services we could do on our own...

Cool, understandable, the aftermarket warranty underwriters want some level of insurance that the car is being maintained properly. I still maintain that I only trust the work done by myself and a select few like panic and g60 golf but we have little choice when it comes towing the line with underwriters.
