another rev counter issue

Post by ob wan »

did a efi conversion on a caddy pickup, square dash, which is the tacho wire? tried yellow/red and red/black to spitronics rpm output... nothing
connect either one to coil neg it doesn't start, same with dizzy centre wire...
the search function only lists a green wire which this plug doesn't have

Trace back from the back of the rev counter to the plug to get the wire. Afaik, Spitronics is not giving square wave output as is needed to the old spec dash. You can wire through a TP100 with pin 7 then going to rev counter to make it work. Take it you are using the round coil. if you were using the 3 pin square coil, you could have opened the little cover on the coil and fit wire from the pin there to the rev counter.

as always great help from panic and blueblob, for future reference this is how
old spec square dash, back of the cluster, pin 5 red/black cut, not T, cut.... then from there to coil neg, in my case it was the green wire on the 2 pin square coil
