Stretch tyres loosing air
Hi guys, I have set of stretch tyres on a brand new set of rims however I have a problem with them loosing air regularly. Is this common ? Is there anything I can do to remedy the problem, this is really becoming quiet irritating, contemplating buying a new set of normal tyres if I can’t sort out the problem

Re: Stretch tyres loosing air
size of tyre and width of wheel? also what make of tyre?
You generally have to run a higher pressure in the tyre when running stretch to keep the sidewall seated but some tyres have stiffer sidewalls and others less so sometimes it's not needed.
Depends how much stretch as well.
Look and see where the leaks are, some tyre shops damage the bead when fitting tyres and creates small leaks.

Answered your own question..... also what is "set of stretch tyres"? Specially made stretch tyres or just tyres incorrectly fitted?mk2fanatic wrote:Hi guys, I have set of stretch tyres on a brand new set of rims however I have a problem with them loosing air regularly. When you say higher pressure, how much would be correct ?

Re: Stretch tyres loosing air
Definitely shouldn't leak unless pressure is already too low or wheel or tyre is damaged. I'm running 165/50r15 on a 7j, but pumped to 2.4 bar.

Re: Stretch tyres loosing air
I've never had issues with my 'stretched' tyres but they aren't that stretched in my opinion and I always run higher pressures in them.

Re: Stretch tyres loosing air
Damaged bead when fitting more than likely. Had a few cases of this myself. Strip tyres and inspect inner bead wall......If not then tyre sealant and up the bar a bit.
