Need help 9N polo 1.9TDI no boost

Post by RJ8V »

Hi guys, I need some help please.

The polo was standing for a while in the garage as we were using the Aveo mostly.

I decided to take the polo out on Monday.
I noticed the engine light was on and the moment I drove it I immediately felt a difference.
No boost at all! Pretty sure I could not hear the turbo as well.

It felt like driving a normal aspirated diesel bakkie uphill.

Today I ran my vcds on it and here is the fault codes I found;

17569 - Manifold temp sensor (G72)
P1161 - 35-00 - open or short to plus

18000 - Altitude sensor/ boost pressure sensor
P1592 - 35-00 - Implausible correlation

Check the small black box with the vacuum pipes leading to it. Behind the water bottle on the right shock mount.

Check the wires and small vacuum tubes going to the small black box.

So last night I found tbe problem.
Next to the water bottle against the fender the harness of wires that are passing there was my source of the problem.

Upon closer look, I found 1 wire broken and 3 damaged. Dont know if it is age, heat or what could have caused these wires to become exposed. Never the less these oukes were the culprit to my problem. I sorted them out by cleaning, reattach and new isolation tape. Ran my vcds, clear the faults, started the car and whalla.
Altough I wasn't quite sure so told my fiancé to drive it to work and let me know once there.

No more limp mode and no illumination so it sorted. Thanx all

Rats man. That's how wires mysteriously gets exposed.

go to your local GW and get this stuff and spray all over the engine bay. They go after the water which is why it is in that area.
