Golf MK1 rev counter

Hi guys

Please can you assist I changed my carb engine to MP9 injection.My rev counter does not work.sqaure dash 1987
Im using a square 3 pin coil.

Let me get this right, you have mp9 installed and still the square dash. You will need to find the mp9 tacho wire from ecu to mp9 rev counter and then wire in a tp100. (12v, earth, input from mp9 wire that was supposed to go to mp9 rev counter to pin 6 on the tp100 and then pin 7 on the tp100 to the square dash rev counter.

Does your distributor have a single or 4 window trigger in distributor.

1987 will use a coil negative rev counter. it would have had a red with black trace that went onto the round coil. On the 3 pin coil now open the plastic cover above the plug. On the righthand bolt connect the red/black wire.

on my mkII I had to solder a wire with a spade connector directly to that right hand side pin as there was no bolt connector, rev counter works fine from there for the old dash/rev counter models.
