Re: Jetta 2 heavy fueling
so drop the 17's for a start
Yes you need to fix the carb cover as that allows dirty air to be sucked into your engine

Re: Jetta 2 heavy fueling
To work out exact fuel usage, rather fill up the tank completely drive like 200km and refil and then take the km’s travelled divided by the amount of fuel in liters put in again. Those petrol gauges are not very linear. Depending on your driving style you should get around or better than 10km/l.
Fix that cover too as suggested by panic.

Hi guys sorry for delayed reply
I cant seem to find the screw that goeso n the cover into the carb any ideas? The one i got is stripped
This saturday i filled R200 and drove just over 220km nmakes me think theres a leak somewhere but under the car is dry pump filter carb all dry
How do i get to the tank pump side as the seats are really stuck on and have never been removed before

Re: Jetta 2 heavy fueling
R200 petrol is not a lot....
Fill the tank completely, ride the car as you normally would until it is empty, then calculate what your fuel consumption is.
Do it a few times to make a more accurate means of calculating fuel consumption.
Basing fuel consumption on 100 or 200 or whatever bucks worth of fuel is a waste of time.

Re: Jetta 2 heavy fueling
I filled the tank previously and only get 300km out of it.... i filled 200 this weekend just to run around and got 220km
When i fill up for the week driving theres a definite petrol smell in the boot hence i suspect the tank or pipes somewhere there leaking but the seats are still in tact and hard to remove to actually get to the pump side
