Why wont it blerrie lock!!!

I wonder if you can help me. I'm unable to lock my car with the remote. If I lock it manually...each single door..it will lock and when I open with the remote, it opens 100% but It wont lock by using the remote. When I drive, the drivers side door shows that It is open. It will lock automatically as I drive and other times it locks while I'm driving but immediately unlocks and says the door is open. I bought a 2nd hand drivers side lock and replaced it but the same problem persists. What can be the problem? Anyway of resetting the door sensor(if there is one) or resetting the whole car. I think its an electronic problem...Please help?

What car is this?

I remember my Golf 1.4i used to loose its key programming and the remote didnt work, VW then has to reprogram the remote. I think there was a manual procedure as well to resync the remote to the car.

Sound like the switch in the door? Maybe the replacment lock closed door switch is also dead?
Which car?
VW Mk4 have a huge problem with this.
