Vogtland Sport Suspension Kit on Audi B7 Avant

Post by DCShoes »

Hi all,

Does anyone have any input (good or bad) on these kits?
I'm thinking of going the 35mm lowering kit, springs and shocks, not coilovers, but just want to know if anyone has fitted these before, and what the ride and feel was like afterwards.
Currently I'm stock with 18's on and the wheel gap looks rubbish. so would like to sort that but don't want a bone shaker afterwards.

Thanks

Just buy coilovers.

My opinion differs from that of course so if you want some sort of ride comfort with just a minimal drop I recommend the OP's route. Don't know that specific product though. We usually end up using H&r with bilsteins or koni.

I also agree with Panic, don't want to go the coil over route. Basically want to keep as close to normal ride comfort as possible (and within reason), but just eliminate a bit of the gap in the arches.

The FK kit for our cars drives really nicely, even at my height. For the height you want to be at, it will be even better. For not much more money, its definitely worth it, and the adjustability is always there if you wanna change things up.

Use it, don't use it.

I have driven many coilovers and normal drops in my life and what you describe as driving really nicely will drive me nuts. You cannot ever begin to say really low and coilover in the same sentence as ride comfort. You are just accepting it in your mind becuase you would sacrifice it for the look.
Possibly thencitybof cape town does better road maintenance than jhb and you only drive really nice roads.

I agree with panic that a decent combined spring and shock has a way better ride quality on the streets then coil overs as they are meant for smooth surfaces like a track , actually using them on our streets is detrimental.

The coil-over designs is self explanatory. Note the spring diameter size and and thickness between the two.(totally different purposes)
Coil-overs will never have the comfort of a normal spring and shock but also to say a normal spring and shock will never have the track handling of a proper coil-overs

Most guys shocks and springs are worn by the time they install coil overs hence they perceive it to be a better ride.

I'm with Jason on this one, I had FK's in my B7 and it was so much better than my stock suspension regarding comfort, I'm not entirely sure why that is, but it is what it is, mine wasn't as low as Jason's B6 though.

I don't think there is a make of coilover that I have not felt. But anyway it is subjective and personal taste like some people can stand longer duration cams etc. I hate coilovers for anything but a track / dedicated race car and we have bad roads where I live so can't stand really hard suspensions and every single lowered car I have driven around here crashes though onto bump stops or end of coil and scratches and bangs and drives me nuts so I hate them all equally.

Will never argue that but even from after my first golf that was dropped failry low i quite disliked everything that was associated with the pain of an impractical car. In the mean time I have simply left them alone. I get more than my share of cars we work on that has that.

From what i remember Vogtland uses their own springs with Bilstein Shocks. This is the kit i will be using on my car.

Friend has Used Vogtland springs on a XC60 volvo

He’s very happy with them

Quality is good

If you not looking to slam the car it’s a decent upgrade

FK Street Coilovers are sprung with a softer more comfort oriented spring and strut damper rate to aid in comfort

It’s just most guys slam them to the max low and roll like that

If you lower a FK Coilover 30-40mm it’ll be super comfortable, less then stock obviously but still decent

More then that and you’ll have the normal low ride height issues
