YASSSSS, VCDS cables.

Post by Dale »

Who were the lucky ones to purchase one at the unbelievable price of R3000 a few years ago? They are now going for R6000 for the unlimited scans one.

Other ones are 3 or 10 vin numbers only at a reduced price.

YASSSSS. Nogals duur geraak.

Bru the 'Gumtree cable for R800' is good enough for use as a diy. It will pay for itself very quickly when you diagnose and repair your own car yourself. But if you want the OEM, then yes hexdiagnostics as Thanas said... go check their website.

i don't see any good in that. It is a stolen / cracked product and simple theft in terms of computer program licensing laws. But hey this is SA a little bit of crime is ok seeing everybody is participating. Again it is just an opinion sure. What do you make a living from for interest sake?

We have posted that link so many times I can't believe anybody still does not know it.
http://shop.hexdiagnostics.co.za/index. ... lter_id=12

Ok let's be clear about this again.
You can use ANY cable and use the vcds lite software free which just let you see the codes and clear them. No other functionality. No issue.
Ross tech is happy with that too.

Then there are the guys that sell the cable and some older cracked version of the full software on a cd. You can't allow the thing to go on the internet and upgrade because it will kill your cracked license software. THAT is what i have a problem with. You are STEALING when you use that.

When you buy a hex cable it opens the software as it is a licensed dongle and you can always update to the latest version of the software.

Well it is an affordable option. I personally have an original Ross Tech cable & interface purely because I could afford it. I respect your beliefs as they are ethically based. Unfortunately we live in a country that has bigger problems then the Chinese counterfeiting the Americans.

I'm guessing fake wheels are also a crime and everyone who has a set should be punished

Ok it is clear etichs is not a big thing in this country. If there is copyright on a product and you breach that yes you are stealing and that includes fake wheels.
But I see ethics is pretty low everywhere and that is exactly one of the big problems in this country.
As long as you are stealing a liittle bit what does it matter. It's ok. You didn't hurt anybody. :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:      :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

It's all Ok until, the shoe is on the other foot. If you take your car to a dealer and they charge you for work or parts that was not done right or not installed everybody is quick to scream blue murder , it is no different , they basically stole from you.
But hey it is ok to buy the cracked product because you gain and hey it's the chinaman stealing from the yank so it was not you doing the actual crime. No That is not how ethics or morals work. You have to apply it equally to yourself and others.

Actually WOW I can't beleive I even have to explain that. How are people brought up these days. What value system? Were you never taught simple wrong from right?
What about the diffucult concepts? Honesty, decency, consideration.

Stephan, I wouldn't bother explaining here, theft of intellectual property is not an opinion it is a crime. We could harp on for days about fake wheels and fake software and fake parts but people in general think only of themselves and not of the bigger picture.

I had the ebay cable with VCDS Lite

I upgraded later on to the full thing via hexdiagnostics. It was pricey but worth every penny!

I appologise for mentioning something illegal. I've only recently joined this forum and I've found that you guys have been doing priceless work here for years. I think I've been naive with regards to theses cables actually being illegal as I've seen them so easily available on Gumtree and eBay.

Does anyone know if we can be charged in this country for buying this cable? Like how we would be charged for buying stolen car parts etc

You could be charged if manufacture reports it.

We did that recently with fake Philips Xenons. Customs investigates it in importing cases.

Wheels are a problem as you cannot copyright all variations and the fakes just change one or two things and it no longer is affected by new design or manufacturing rights.

Hexdiagnostics are the primary developers of VCDS.

They are actively pursuing fake distributors. They do not mind a third party cable with VCDS lite but a hacked cable or full VCDS with 3rd party cable will see them actively pursuing you!
