Squeak from engine bay

Post by chrisg4 »

Hi guys,

need some help, i'm getting an annoying squeak from the engine bay area on my IC 1.8T, I have replaced both engine and gearbox mounts (worn). changed the DP gasket and the turbo gasket but the sound persists. It occurs when changing gears or when going over bumps on the road. It sounds like metal on metal. I have a feeling it is the DP but i have checked all the bolts, they are secure. any ideas as to what could be the issue?

Regards
Chris

Omgaad this is just too good

You'll have to get under there and see if anything is touching.

Had an issue with the bonnet touching the fender on my IC. Annoying squeak as well.

Update:

I think I found the issue, the polyurethane dogbone mount insert cracked/tore. I was under the impression that the poly mounts don't get damaged?

With enough force you can break anything. My dad always said You can even break your finger off in you arse if you try hard enough.
Point is anything can fail.
