Fuel Consumption on Polo Playa 1.6i

Hi, earlier this year my coil pack gave in and had to be replaced so we replaced it, I then had a ping on the car and the timing on the distributor had to be adjusted. So now we adjusted it and I drove down to Durban from JHB and back, Fuel Consumption was great but now back in JHb. I Used to get 600+ km's from full tank till petrol light came on but now I only get 500 km's then the petrol light comes on, could this be to do with the timing that my fuel consumption has dropped so hectically and also what else could I do to up the fuel consumption.

Yes. Get the timing set to best power on a dyno.
