GTi 7 DSG Gears Downshifting at D4 no D5&D6

I was driving in town when all of a sudden my car started to jerk a bit . I got that " start the engine manually". I did and it went up to D4 then started to downshift to D. The car revved the engine on its own and cut the power of. Re started the engine same thing happened. Then a warning said " Gearbox reverse gear unavailable " then it was selecting gears randomly jumping from D4 to D2 then D3 and D1, revs going up and cutting the power off.

Sounds like mechatronics failure...

Haven't heard of it happening in the mk7 yet... Hopefully your car is still under warranty? because that's like a r30k job unfortunately...

Thank you for your response. Yes the car is still under warranty. They told me today it looks like it needs a new gear box. So they are waiting for results from Uitenhage . Am not sure what is it that they say they are checking, something to do with re-mapping or chippping. They send the results from their diagnostic machine to PE for interpretation. Do you perhaps know what that is about ?

Does the car have software on it? I.e. has it been tuned?

Did you chip or modify the car for them to suspect that

No I have no software on the car. No chips nothing. I have done no work on the engine was waiting for the warranty to elapse then go for stage 1 tuning . The only thing I put was a DPipe.

Damn, that sucks. I heard that it is compulsory for them to scan and upload for big claims like motor and box so pray that's the reasoning. What model is your car? Did you buy it new? Problem with buying these cars 2nd hand is that you don't know if the car was flashed by the previous owner and then flashed back.

Thank you guys for your inputs. I bought the car brand new. Only Installed a Catback. No chips or remapping of the engine.

Hopefully it won't be flagged, as there has never been software on the car. They might have an issue with the DP - but possibly not.
