Engine No Blank

I need some help. I bought a van from the original owner who owned it since new.In 2013 Ford replaced the engine with a new engine that does not have any engine number on it. The papers have the old engine number on it. What is the procedure to get an engine no and have it changed on the natis docs.

I have the ford letter and invoice where the engine was replaced.

Anyone can please assist me this.

Thanks in advance.

Take about 3 boxes of calmettes smoke an arm of dope and then go visit the police vehicle theft unit and spend days there while they sort this out. Actually what would be easier is to burn it and with the insurance money buy another one of which the papers are in order.
You should have let that guy sort it out and not make it your problem.

No. Most engine numbers are digital dot type things unless ford is till living in the dark ages. If they literally still use a stamped number that you can source the same font stamps for heck go for it.

why not just call Ford and ask them what needs to be done instead of taking drastic measures.
surely they can point you in the right direction...

Just did that. They said what Panic said. Police will stamp a new engine number starting with VO :(

Don't understand how original owner accepted car back from Ford, without this being done. They need to sort out the paperwork, so either dealer fitting or FordSA, now you the buyer have to jump through hoops. F that......

What Van are we talking here?

I'd offer FORD the opportunity to correct this, but not by having Police stamp it VO.

People buying the car is always going to have 2nd thoughts when you try to sell again.

I say park it in the dealership, ramming it through the shopfront

2008 bantam bakkie. i bought it from old man in brits. engine was swapped in 2013 under warranty for a new engine. only reason I'm keeping it is the price i paid(R25000) and the current mileage is 15000km FSH from Ford.Need a small bakkie for running around. Apparently all bantam, ikon etc new engines don't come with an engine number from the factory. I have confirmed that with 2 different dealerships. Anyone know someone that can go do the police clearance for me(will pay).

Take that one further. Another scandal for FORD.

Is it even legal for them to sell/ supply an engine without a number?

Maybe send a message to the MOtor Ombudsman....

yeah there is some serious worries that ford sells blocks to the public with no engine number. that opens up SO many doors for theft/dishonesty that it is not even funny.

All focus ST with the 5 cyl actually don't even use the correct engine number

Their registered engine numbers on the disc are the last few digits of the VIN number

So we were able to swap out cracked blocks left right and Centre without any worries as the number would never match even from factory
