OBD2 dongles for 6R polo / vivo

Post by georgie »

I am looking for a wifi/bluetooth diagnostics dongle that actually works on the Vivo/6R polos.

Boramad pointed out that the OBDEleven tool works perfectly but I see its Android only, and my wife and I both have iphones. I could get a 7" tablet to use just for diags but would prefer to get something that has software for ios.

I tested my ELM327 bluetooth adapter with OBDCarDoctor software but no luck.

Thanks

If u have a laptop, just get vcds bro. Its like more accurate and to the point, and there are alot of functions which other obd2 readers dont have.

Also, if it means you getting a new phone and stuff, vcds will probably be cheaper aswell.

In terms of value for money, easy of use and versatility OBDEleven is BEST.

I have\had the following:

VCDS (Fake.. cant recall the version) - Connects to most of the VIVO''s controllers except the Engine ECU. :bang:
ELM327 (Cable version) - Hopeless - Could not find a decent app that works.
OBDEleven - Plug in device, open app, Hit SCAN. If errors, hit the Email ..DONE

I don't see how OBDevelen can do the Long coding to change some stuff works.

Would need to see if there are videos out there showing that it works.

Like for instance I want to change my lane change on flicker from 3 to 5. VCDS is needed to do this, but if OBDeleven can do this then I will be ordering one for sure...

I don't have one but that would be a one click operation basically.

I would also like to get one, maybe we should do a bulk buy or so.ething like that. 9k for a cable is a bit steep.

@Ashveer03 - I have the VAG KKL 409 cable with vagcom freeware and it worked perfectly for years, doesnt work with the newer models unfortunately. The newer cable is way too expensive.

My ELM327 has never worked with anything ever lol.

Looks like OBDEleven is the best way to go. All i really need is to read and clear codes. Will look for a cheap 7" tablet to use with it.

I have the chinese vcds v15.7 and i used it from a 97 polo mp9 to 2010 audi quattros to 2013 caddy tdis to 2016 golf tsi's and it works 100% every time.

I did have a v12 vcds that was kind of crappy an only gave me comm errors when trying to scan my polo 9n tdi, but no problems with v15.7 so far

Interesting...What did it cost?

I get confused by this because my cable worked on everything from mk3's to mk5's, but not on the 6R's. Ross tech told me I need a HEX-USB+CAN for the newer cars. Does the v15.7 work on both :???:

Do you have a link to where you ordered from?

With normal post you will wait long eventhough that will be cheaper option (but the thought of waiting for months due to our dysfunctional post office) pushed me to go with DHL. I spoke with the owner directly before placing an order (he's response immediately) and the dongle was shipped within hours of placing an order.

My cousin went the post office route it took a month to reach the post office and he went directly to Joburg International mail centre to collect it - he paid something like 20 bucks for duties
