Any particular reason for this bud? I've had Achilles on my car for 3 years no problem & I actually have my 2nd set in front. Looking at replacing the rear tyres now.
Sidewalls cracking/breaking up badly. I changed two of them which still had between 70-80% life because of this.

I had a set of Goodyear Eagles Asymmetric tyres on my previous set of wheels and I can not fault them.

You'll light up tyres in the wet in pretty much any golf any tyre, on my standard mp9 1800 2 door with 205 17's I could go through 1-5 pretty much standing still. On the GTV it was 1-3, but it has a lot more weight on the front wheels. You can't drive in the wet like you drive in dry weather so it should not even be a problem.

225/40R18 on a 7.5j wheel for a polo 9n3? ...i would have thought a 215/35 would be better since it would have the same rolling diameter as your 17'' wheels

in 18's best tyre i've owned is Mich PSS..amazing grip..won't last long though if you drive hard constantly, in 15's it was a Bridgestone Potenza adrenalin, cant remember if it was RE01 or 02.

Yeah thought about that but don't know any good tyres that are 215/35/18. That's why I decided 225/40.

I think yokohama s-drives are available in a 215/35R18

If your car is slammed rather go with a 205/35

Ok decided on the gy asymmetric 3 225/40/18.

Heard of the Yokohama s-drives now in 215/35/18. So I'm unsure which one will work better.

I don't have that much experience with tyres to know what to decide. Is there anyone who can help out thanks?

225/40 R18's will look like tractor tyres on a Polo,

Do the right thing and fit 215/35 R18.

I love Yokohamas, the A Drive offers good value/performance. Personally have Decibels on my GTi. Looks like they are lasting a lot longer than OE Bridgestones, and I feel that they out perform the S001 on all fronts with added comfort and quietness- they are higher up in price though. But then again I'm probably the only guy on this forum that value such idiotic things like ride comfort and road noise hehe. Your PP will probably ride like a Rolls with DCC in comfort!

One thing I did notice on the Yokis is that they seem very sensitive to alignment, have mine done every 5k or so.

Best tyre question?
Michelin every time - just painfully expensive!

Fixed that for you. 40k km's is pretty good.

OP, what do you think decent mileage on a set of tyres are (on you Golf 7 GTI PP)

ps: I had GY F1's Asyms and just fitted x4 ContiSport 5's (could not get new F1's) Have run them before and was very happy with them.

Are you suggesting solid rims? It may decrease fuel consumption but who cares if you only buying new rimtyres every 50 years.
