polo 1.4 intermediate rattling crackling noise under load

hi guys.need sum help.my 2004 polo gvs off a rattling crackling noise under load intermediately.on idle theres no noise,even if i rev the car up on idle thers no noise only under load this noise appears,basically on low revs cos on high revs under load theres no noise.help plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

K i eventually did a diagnostic and it pikd up faulty knock sensor.so i bowt a set off new plugs and a knock sensor from goldwagon.i installed the sensor i did thighten it up with a wrench.i did nt torque it.as i dnt knw the torque specs for polo.the ping as gotten alot better bt is still der.any idea if the noise is there cos off not torqueing it?

Check your timing...

I've heard many times that knock sensors should be torqued to spec, and that it is very easy to over-torque them, which can lead to failure. But this is only forum feedback of 15 years, not my own experience.

After checking the timing, do another diagnostic.

That is if it is a 2004 year which is the 9n jobs?

Get a different mechanic or please let him give us a detailed description of how to time a gearbox.

K check timming and set it according to the marks.did a diagnostic no faults.but the pinging sound still der wen accelerating under load

Ok for the dake of clarity. What engine is this exactly? Engine code or take a picture please.

Okmso that is a distributorless engine with 60-2 pickup. How exactly did you set the timing.
You can maybe look at it but that is about it. Unless there is a piggyback installed in which case that mapping is most likely causing the ping.
If it is pinging you are Really hearing and this is a stock engine then possibly you are starting to hear the beginning of a possible head gasket failure.
When the gasket blows between two cylinders it will overpressure the one from the other side.
But again - noises are subject to the person hearing and describing it.

I even changed headgasket lastweek.it is a stock engine.and timming was done with the marks on the covers.

Why did you change the headgasket? Sommer net?
Did you do a compression test before and after? Did you do a CO test on the cooling system to establish a headgasket problem?

Again i ask a simple question. How did you set timing?
Are you talking about valve timing?
I am talking about ignition timing, not the same thing........
Cam timing is not what causes pinging.

Nope head was not skimmed.and thr mech set the timming.

Probably one of those guys that will tell you the head light fluid needs topping up aswell......
