hi guys ,
I have a golf 1 FI .
accelerator cable snapped , i have a new one , how to you take out the old iron hook that is by the accelerator pedal.
There is black rubbers around the area but it is difficult to take off , was this suppose to come out?

There is a circlip that locks it on the pedal, its in front of the rubber. If not and its still hard to remove, then apply force or use a set of pliers to pull it out

I didnt have a circlip on my gas pedal, the hook just had a barbed end.
A bit of pulling and a twist and it came free.
