Polo 9n owners!
I need your help, I don't know if any of you have experienced this.
If you have, please let me know how to fix it.
As a result my bootlid needs to be held up, it doesnt stand by itself.
Thanks Guys.

Re: Polo 9n Tailgate
Hi
I think you mean the shock keeping the boot up is kaput. Just replace the shock and it should be fine. I cant remember if it uses one or 2. Just remove the part and go to a local spare shop and ask for a replacement. Nothing serious.
Good Luck

Re: Polo 9n Tailgate
Word of advice, just fork out for the OEM gas struts. They are expensive but well worth it.
If your issue with the bolt on the bottom working loose, you need to lock-tite the bolt into the thread. Just make sure you do it 100% dead straight.

Re: Polo 9n Tailgate
Jacques, it uses two shocks and the reason its came off is because the threads are kaput, The shock itself is still fine.
Ex-Dohctor, Shot I'll see what i can do.

Re: Polo 9n Tailgate
Had the same with my polo, took it to panelbeaters, the one that actually helped me, they used a tool to crimp it again, since then it 100%, won't even see that they worked on the car.KAR wrote:Jacques, it uses two shocks and the reason its came off is because the threads are kaput, The shock itself is still fine.

Re: Polo 9n Tailgate
Hi guys, same thing just happened to me. Only the threads on my boot lid got stretched badly. Would the warranty cover the cost to repair This?

Re: Polo 9n Tailgate
Is the thread on the c pillar stripped?
If not then take a spanner and screw the nut back in place using locktite/Thread locker as we described above.
If the thread is stripped you might need to get it looked at by a panel beater. Not sure if they would have to weld the hole closed and tap a new thread maybe.

Re: Polo 9n Tailgate
Generally a panel beater, general mechanic or agent workshop outsources this kind of thing... they then invoice you for it. I know this as my brother has been thread repairs for years. Removal of broken bolts, spark plugs, retapping and fitting of helicoils or inserts. He's company is Torque Threads, you should be able to see the work and get his contact info there... (would post the phone number, but not too sure about the rules of forum, and know that scraping bots on websites to collect phone numbers for call centers and spambots)

Re: Polo 9n Tailgate
This is usually repaired by inserting a rivnut into the old damaged thread that has be to be drilled out.
