Odd question, but how many keys or fobs does one get when buying the 6C?
I have a 2017 Cross Polo and just a single key fob, no spare key or fob.
Salesman says he handed it to me when I picked up registration, but that isn't the case. There was mess up with registration so I think in the rush and confusion it was never handed over, but that leaves me in a I-said-He-said situation.
I read somewhere on the VCDS site that post-2015 some VWs did not come with a spare key fob and obtaining the 7-digit SKC is apparently a mission.
Yet a colleague with a 2018 Polo Vivo 1.4 purchased new was handed a spare key (not remote fob).

Luckily I've never lost a car key before, but I have had one stop working on my Golf after my son used it as a chew toy. In that situation I just went home and got the spare and I was sorted.

Likely that there never was one. Often use car trade in's don't have a spare....... just pay up to get a spare from VW. I did this when I got the van (TReg) you can try some of the gumtree people, but I preferred peace of mind so got Stephan to have dealer do it. Budget R5k for this.

That kinda sucks. Especially on something traded in at a VW dealership with less than 30K on the clock.

Don't really have R5K lying around at the moment. I guess maybe start of next year I'll have to have a look at what I can do.
I guess there's also lost key insurance.

Salesman has asked me to send him the VIN number and he will check the key cabinet just in case.

I noticed there are auto locksmiths that offer the service, but I'm not sure they can do keys for the MQB platform.

I've been thinking of getting a headunit change at some point, but a few things can only currently be switched/set from the stock headunit (Composition Colour).

These include:
- ESP switch
- tyre pressure reset
- instrument cluster brightness adjustment

I believe these items had dedicated switches in earlier or other models. Tyre pressure reset was in cubby hole, ESP on/off on dash panel, brightness setting somewhere. Not sure if that was 6R and never 6C.

So swapping headunit means all those go away.

Does anyone know if it is possible to add button/switch interfaces for these? Does the BCM have any pins dedicated to these inputs?

Basically move these controls out of the headunit and into the "analogue" world.

Guys,

I drive a 6C GTi Polo and want to lower my car a bit (25mm - 30mm at the back),

Anyone familiar with MAXTRAC coilovers? Are they any good?

Or should I rather go for springs (H&R or Eibach)?

If you're only lowering by 25-30 mm then lowering springs only will suffice. I've used both Eibach and H&R and both are quality, you wont go wrong.

But if you want to have the choice to adjust and go lower than 30mm, then coilovers will be the better option.

FK coilovers are the most commonly used on the Polo 6R's and 6C's. You will also need shortened drop links with coilovers.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I also heard that the springs are very bouncy...Is this true?

Which brand would you advise I go for then? Eibach or H&R?

Do you need to replace drop links only when you go for coil overs or should they be replaced when you opt for springs as well?

With the H&R and Eibach being 20-30mm there's no bounce.
Go for either H&R or Eibach. See whats available, suitable to the height you want and price.

No need to replace drop links with the above lowered springs, only change when going coilover route.

Hi guys,

Took a while but getting another 6C Highline tomorrow.
I have a little question on the exhaust cutout... I know a 90mm tip will fit but can't remember if there was enough room for a 101mm.

Can anyone please confirm the largest I'll be able to fit without touching the body

Damn this sounds dirty lol.

Good day all.

I know this is quite an old thread but is there perhaps still a WhatsApp group that’s active? I’m driving a 6C and I’m looking for a useful group to join. If there isn’t one still active perhaps I’ll make one for those who are interested…
