Very nicely done.
If it is just for a bike carrier I think you over developed it a lot. And can cut down on weight.
On a side note. The SABS test, does one require it for insurance purposes or just for peace of mind or to put the car through the test?

Re: DIY TOW BAR FOR POLO 9N
Wow. Thats awesome dude. I bought a towbar for my polo. It was a bosal. Fitting was easy. But i made a control box that pulls power from the front (so it doesnt overload the existing light wires). It had fuses for each circuit(brake, reverse, tail, indicators) and diodes and relays for protection. Even if someone opened the cap and shorted out the pins nothing would happen.
BTW did you design the towbar yourself? And who cut/bent the metals? How does the cost compare to buying one?

Where does 1 just buy a SABS approved tow kit and just fit yourself?G_baby wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2014 7:19 am Wow. Thats awesome dude. I bought a towbar for my polo. It was a bosal. Fitting was easy. Would love to see an insurance claim on the car this is attached to if it was ever in an accident.
