Hazard - bordnetz

Post by MK1-GT »

Hi All,

I have the problem on a 2008 Citi 1.4i where Hazards seem to go on randomly. I even disconnected the Hazard switch for a week and still went on randomly.
I also changed the Hazard switch.. But Hazards still go on randomly.

Been told it could be the bordnetz...
I cannot find a 2nd hand one with my part number.
Any other Ideas or options before I get new one..

Weird thing is that VCDS does not pick up any faults with the bordnetz..

You indicators work fine though?

If you can, swap boardnetz with another citi & gauge.

Sounds like a earth/wiring issue to me...

Indicators working without any issues. The car did have some weird cutoff switch but that was disconnected.

If I use another bordnetz to test, will indicator, hazardss still work and jus car won't start due to bix not being coded?

How did the cut of switch work, from where did they take power? did they cut into the loom to bridge the fuel pump power?

Hmmm im not 100% sure, but I think it will work. ( i have a decoded ecu so had issues swapping)

Imm not sure how the cutoff was connected but a very reliable persson disconnected it. Any ideas where I can check for a wiring diagram maybe?

Ok thanx dude., I will try and see if I can figure it out or will just try an electrician if I dont come right.

But I had the battery disconnected (positive was off the terminal). I connected it last night to try and start the car and immediately when I connected the Terminal the Hazards came on... So something is a bit strange...

Sounds like a short in your wiring to the hazard switch...

Ok so last night I decided to take out the bordnetz and check it out..

While I was taking it out and trying to unplug the 2 cables, the hazards when on....

Seem like this bordnetz was worked on before.. Opened the bordnetz up and seen tracks might be damaged.

Check the bottom right of the board.

That sure looks like water! check both the x relieve relay and the fuel pump relay as they are upside down. even if not try and turn the relays around. Did u get it resoldered? Also how do the terminals look on the connectrs?

Where about do i find those relays? are they also same place under the dash?

I bought a new bordnetz on saturday and plugged it in at about 4pm... From 4PM saturday till last night, sunday @ about 8 the hazards never went off automatically... So it seems that it was the bordnetz. I disconnected the battery so that the battery doesnt die cause i currently not using the golf.

I am also going to check who can solder that box for me and keep maybe as a spare...
