so do i use body filler? im thinking it will crack after a few hard launches....

need some help, would like to remove the brake booster, water bottle and the wire-tuck im sure i can hide... battery in the boot shouldn't be a problem as well....

this is not for a daily driver however i should be able to sit in peak winter traffic with the car...

key is to weld up as much as possible so only a tiny amount of bodyfiller is needed

This is what I did in my GT, all the things you mentioned except the wiring I neatened up but didn't hide..

yesterday i moved the catch can over to the right under the battery tray to hide it, i will upload pics of the engine bay as it stands after i had a work around with it the weekend.

@polony- that is too much work and i fear once i get stuck into it, its gonna take too long to complete...

also plating vs high polished... need pro's vs cons... i always had my stuff high polished and it turns out nice, but to maintain it was a beeech... never done plating..

I spoke to a buddy and he is not shaving due to long term problems, but he is going to drive it daily. Dunno what it all entails though.

I have never done it but have heard it is a real ball ache to do properly, welding in plates, smoothing down weld lines, using as little filler as possible, relocating bits and pieces and hiding wiring...

hiding the wiring is not that hard, battery in the boot aint a ball ache, its the water bottle and extra bits (firewall) which im worried about....

i am going to have to spray the car over anyways, so i will start with the reloca battery in the boot first and remove the plate infront, tidy some wiring etc... i already done some work over the long weekend

Yeah, relocating and hiding isn't too hrd a job, time consuming though but all the welding, filling, smoothing, **** me that is a job...

remove all the seam sealer, weld up grind flat, body filler

grind off all unnecessary brackets etc etc etc

i'm not sure if you can see much here.
we used 1mm cold roll steel to cover up as much as we could.
then a thin layer of filler..
not totally smooth as such, but covered up over chassis legs, holes etc.
battery in the bin.





and wiring went in through here

I have seen guys overseas hide or relocate a lot of things and then make fibreglass covers that they can fit and remove when necessary. Saves them from welding and grinding and filling...

While not VW...but you can learn a few things from these shaved Honda bays as they have MUCH more to hide and relocate than the MK1 VW variants.

Curiosity has got the better of me, why do the fuel lines come in on the right hand side of the motor?

Normal Citi's/MK1's have the steel lines coming in from the left hand side of the motor.

This is standing with the bonnet open infront of the motor obviously.
