There is some useful info on the 6R GTi thread, but no thread specific to the non-GTi's, so here it is.

While I'm here, has anyone fitted a tailpiece to their 6R? Wanted to know if it is possible with the standard bumper without cutting?

To those guys with 6R 1.4 NA versions of the polo....Have you had any overheating issues with your car?
A work collegue bought one last year and after 6 months he started having issues where the car would overheat. Went in to VW about 6 times in the last 6 months subsequently and they basically replaced the entire colling system and all was well for a month again but then the overheating started again. He went back to the dealer yesterday and said he is done with this back and forth and threw his toys out of the cot so they are now replacing his engine!

Apparently there were a batch of engines where there was an engineering fault which restricts water movement or something in the engine.

Just an FYI for the others here

Asked the service advisor the other day about reliability of the 6R and he said they have very little issues. Just the oddity here and there.

This is concerning. I havent had issues. Hope I dont encounter any. What worries me is VW just changes everything and doesnt know the route of the problem.

Traitor. :moon:

I am loving my 6R TDI.
However, I noticed that sometimes when driving on a bumpy road with the pano roof opened full, there is a slight knocking sound comming from the roof area. Need to have a look and see if this is anything major but from the basic checks, the pano roof is stable and firm even when opened full.
Could be something else. Will check up further this weekend.
Anyone else with a pano roof experienced this?

I experience the exact same thing. There is more noise when the roof is just tilted up than when open full. I think it is the roof tapping against the roof frame. I also checked mine and it is solid. Think it is more a "feature"then a flaw. I love having the Pano roof though.

Ok that puts my mind at ease a bit. Used my 6N all weekend so did not even get a chance to check out the pano roof yet.
Loving the pano roof and the alcantara seats. Just a pity the weather we been having in Durbs lately. Could not really make use of the pano roof much.

I must say, I bought myself a Polo 1.4 Comfortline in June of 2011, put cruise control as well as the GTI seats into it....... All I can say is WOW

Best I have done is 1067km's on a tank, cannot really complain about anything on the car, smooth and definitely a people's car. :tosser:
