Rather Important as the 6N 1.4 the 9N 1.4 16v and the 9N 1.4 8V have all got diffrent torque settings and please do not try the one on the other.

We also need an indication of what torque settings you are talking about ? Flywheel ? Head ? Tappet cover ? Cam box ? what settings are you looking for ?

head - 40 nm then 60nm then 90 degrees and another 90 degrees.
mains 60 nm
be 30 nm + 90 degrees
pressure plate to crank - 75 nm or simply properly tight also normally installed with loctite
flywheel to pressure plate - 18 nm and these are stretch so have to be replaced

Again like the original poster of this thread - could you use more words and maybe some punctuation?
Are you asking if the main bearing and the big end bearing torque are the same as the ones I gave here or if they are the same as each other.
The car is possibly a 2005 CITI as mk1's have not been made since 1983.
anyway yes main bearing and big end bearing specifications will be the same as provided before here.

1.4 Polo 2012 mK5 Braking problem

Post by SAwillik »

Hi,
I need some advice, please.

1.
So my wife is driving the 1.4 2012 mk5 Polo.
The car is at +- 212000km and with its last major service, we had the brake discs and pads replaced. (about 7months ago)
So in the last month having to drive to Joburg from the Vaal every day she started to notice that when breaking,(especially when someone cuts her off)
that when she applies the brakes, the brakes shudder and with a slight slip in the breaking. Note the wheels don't lock, the brakes slip and coming to a standstill does not happen as required. The shudder however is very concerning as you can feel it on the steering and on the brake paddle.

I have tested the car myself and have found it mostly happens when applying the brakes hard and quickly and when (I feel) the brakes are hot.
I have concerns that this happens because the brakes are becoming very hot and that they are only stock so they aren't, meant for extreme conditions.
That being said, it is still a worry as I do love my wife and want her to be safe. :-)
I am planning on taking the car in soon, but I want some more input.

2. Same Car different issue.

The car was broken in a while ago(most likely professionals because)

They entered the car on the right passenger side through wedging the window open and the siren was muted.
Bonnet was opened and computer box disconnected so probably tried to steal the vehicle but probably ran into some issues.
Anyway, since then I can't seem to get the immobilizer sound/siren to work.
The hooter and siren have been checked, wiring has been checked. Various specialist has been asked advice but with no luck.
The manufacturer says they can do an (expensive) diagnoses but I'm not quite ready for that.

Please help.

Kind regards

The brake vibration issue is most likely the discs are warped again. Being new doesn't mean much if they are of cheap quality. Also if the car is driven through water puddles or wheels are washed whilst the brakes are still hot, warping can occur.
Goldwagen brand surebrake works well.
