Just a thought, is there no immobiliser kaking around? I know my mates 16v mk2 did this after you drove a while it just would start and it was his alarm stuffing around.

Check Hall wiring +0- are all connected properly, I had issue when I installed mine recently(first time management install) and also had no spark. As Joggie mentioned, could be the hall sender itself. Also check the Dicktator user manual for where the idle parameters, idle control setup should be,trigger edge settings should be on falling and lastly make sure TP100 is earthed somewhere to body.

Explain please ... we don't know the exsact way you did your install.

If it's a round cyl. type coil there has to be a tp100 somewhere to fire the coil . If you have ove of the newer Coil packs or something like the later 9N polos then you don't need a TP100 as it's basicly build into the coil pack.

Give us more info on your build so we can help find the problem.

How hot is the coil at that point. Could be that your dwell is set too long and busy frying the coil.

mmmm, me not understanding. why would you want to put in a tp100? if you have the coil with built in module then what is the problem?
on a serious note, I had a problem where by the car woud just cut out. no spark and this was on a mk3 2ltr. this was a intermittent problem and as a result it was very difficult to diagnose.
to cut a long story short. the dissy was the culprit.

Do you have a comms cable and the program. If at that stage you can still see rpm while crancking the engine then it can't be the dissy. Don't spend money on guessing at something. Diagnose it properly......

So I went through a couple of posts here. Since I had a similar problem.
Found the problem and fixed it. Was frustrating since I wanted to do it myself and not take it to a shop.

Problem was.
It was very rainy. Golfs are known to have issues when it comes to wet conditions. It would start missing spark, struggle to iddle and die... Was usually my distributer cap getting some moisture in it and causing spark to disappear.
That was with my 1.4 still in, now with a 2.0 installed and a brand new distributer(it should be sealed better agains moisture) it happened again. Stopped, opened it up to find it completely dry...
Continued driving, its fine amd then its not fine...
Eventually later the day after it dying(no spark from coil) it started again... And then died for good with no spark from coil when turning it over, only 1 spark when ignition on.
Couldn't be the coil... No crank sensor...
Ivestigated wiring. Found the relay, under my cubbyhold, powering the dictator to be a bit moist. Dried it. Continued checking wiring. Saw a nice drop of water on the relay, WTF...(also no key in ignition, dicktator green light was on-not normal) took it out and shook it. Yes, filled with water. Yes ! Found the problem... No ! Dried it, put it back in. No green light anymore, good. Red light with ignition on. No green flickering(should show pulse) when turning over ! Dammit ! Didn't think it's the distributer at the time cause it's new ! Eventually took the dicktator out and found a diode disintegrated(burned away due to water causing short circuit) on the pc board. Replaced it, tried again. Still no pulse, no green light. Only culprit left, distributer ! Unplugged it, bridged it out to see if I get a spark.. Yes ! Spark !
Turns out it was the hall sensor that has also blown due to the short circuit of the relay.
Bought a new distributer and bob's your uncle !
Issue was water running down the wires from the engine bay down into the cab and into the relay, since it was just hanging there and wasn't suspended or fastened.
