OBD Port on Golf ???

Post by PanTheR11 »

Yo ppl,

Does any1 know where the new (mk1) Citi golf's (2005 model) OnBoard Diagnostics (OBD) port is?

It's supposed to have two ports, one in the engine bay and one inside the car somewhere hidden in the dash behind a cover or something......

I've checked for the one in the engine bay, but I can't find one there......
I even checked close to the wiper motor and found everything else except the blooming OBD port........

The one hidden in the dash, ah well, haven't found that one either.... or I have'nt looked good enough yet.....

Asking this, cause a buddy of mine is busy tuning his 1.6i Citi (or is it VeloCiti, can't remember). He found the software to do the monitoring and changes and everything, but now he want's to know where the port is and I have no idea......

I've browsed the web a bit, but I can't seem to find anything related to the Citi Golf, just for the newer Golf's (mk4 and mk5).......

Can any1 please help me?

Here's a link to what the car's interior looks like

http://www.vw.co.za/models/citigolf/gallery.php

I don't see an ashtray there.....

I'll have a look at the fusebox in the side of the dash if it isn't there

I'll keep you posted

See imbetween the cupholders and the gear shift. There is a ashtray, you have to pull it out and under there you will find that port. Put your hand in there and feel around if you don't see it.

New spec dash?

There is a small conpartment on the driver side. Right hand, by your knees. Open that and you will have to pry a flat head screw driver or panel popping tool in the top centre to push back the plastick retainer. Do this while pulling the conpartment lid. Should be behind that.

Old spec dash

Under the ashtray.
