As much as i love the ideas Wit Ark is sharing with us, i'll stick to Zubairs cost effective method

Find an empty Johnny Walker Blue Label Bottle, fill it 3/4 with the cheapest whiskey which i think is 3 ships or McArthurs and then add secret ingredient

Even if they dont steal the car, they will definitely take the blue label

This could slow them down or stop them.

I'll be making myself a started motor shield with a hard ass mesh for airflow

remove dizzy cap, remove rotor, replace cap. so that they dont see what is
missing.
keep a spare hidden in the boot incase you loose original!
MK2's dont die, they just get faster!!

Your aim should be to delay them, thieves are actually lazy and hate to struggle. Unfortunately they are very smart and also do a lot of research. They know golfs inside-out so never underestimate them.

Wish I could do the following to try and prevent my golfie from being stolen if possible
1. Customize gear selector on the gearbox so that it can be locked on gear 5.
2. Rearrange handbrake operation but leave the lever standard.
3. Park it so awkward for the tow truck.

Aim - make the car wheels front & rear so hard to move if not impossible.

what on earth is a level 4 alarm? How would that be better than say a level 1 alarm? whats the differences? o another tip, they cut the 2 rd wires that links up with the main + n the starter,(easy to get to if you just stick your head under the car you can see them) the one runs to the alternator, the other to power the cars electrics including your alarm. would be good to give your alarm power directly from the battery +. also the bonnet switch(that sounds alarm when bonnet is opened) usually sits on the left, move it to the right, otherwise all they do is force open the r-side of the bonnet to steal your battery and basically bugger the alarm without it ever going of. m2c
