Jetta 4 shaking

Post by Bongs2010 »

Hi Guys

Jetta 4. 1999 model. 1.6 Automatic

i noticed my brake pads needs replacing. anyways, the car shakes when driving between 30-70kpm when i accelerate, but as soon as i go over 70. it gets stable again

could this be caused by worn out brakes or is there something else?

Thanks
Bonga

Nope not likely the brakes, however most likely wheel balancing or loose wheels, also check tyre pressures and if wheels are out of round. But seeing the shaking stops, suggest former.....

Rather buy a good quality part that will last then buying a cheap part that won't last.

My money is on a wheel which has lost a weight since the vibration is speed dependent

Hi

I am also experiencing shaking on my Jetta 5 TDI 2008 model. I have just had the tyres checked, rims straightened and cv checked, shocks etc and its still shaking BADLY. the steering wheel doesn't move when shaking but the car moves a lot. seems worse at 40 to 70kph and then doesn't shake as much after 70kph. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
