Reseting/adapting MK1 citi.com remote keys

Post by Baldwin02002 »

I need some help. My citi.com central lock cannot accept my remote when using manual remote adaptation. Is there a way of reseting CCM module with Vag-com like in my Mk4. Before i managed to program 1 remote manual but i tried to program two at the same time and it lost memory and it cannot recognize any key. I used the procedure on the manual that says :

Switch on and off the ignition for less than 5 second
Press and hold a button on the remote
While pressing or holding the first buttong press again another button 3 times and release the pressed button
The light on the remote should blink 5 times and if successful you will hear the central lock motors running.

Please help if there is another procedure.

Hi, mine uses a different procedure as yours. I spoke to a friend of mine who is a techie at vw. He said that it has reached the maximum number of keys as i recoded the keys few times succesfully. As i remeber the last 3 recodes were succesful and it did not want to accept any key from then as i was trying to code both keys at the same time. But he said that on that case they call a guy to come and re-chip the device and it will cost R350. I will take the same box to him.

Never heard of a limit of keys.[diff that is]
It can do upto 4 keys in one go.When you put it in learning mode it will delet the keys it has stored and then start from 0 again.

You are right..i realized that that technician is talking about the immob not central locking. I think the unit is faulty as it does not want to accept any key. I managed to get another box but once plugged it keeps on alarming and i think it needs to be coded or adapted. Anyone knows how to code/adapt a central locking box(Siemens) using VAG. I have got a fully licenced one. Thanks

Vag or vas will not work on the system it is non diagnosable.
Close the door lock it then unlock it open dorr close doore the switch ign on within 15 sec this will stop the alarm and allow you to put it into coding mode.
MAKE SURE ALL DOOR SWITCHS ARE IN WORKING ORDER.

I posted too soon. Got my spare key top work but more my normal key does not work any more.

How do I get both keys to work? I tried doing the second one immediately after the first one . But the central locking got stuck when I was doing the second key. Don't know if out was just too could this morning or if I did it wrong.

The key is not your problem.

Look at getting a new ingition switch. You will need to remove the barrel and lock assembly to get to it.

To test if this is indeed your problem open the steering column cover remove the plug from the switch and test with a working switch. They are fairly cheap (under R100) and will quickly isolate your issue to more easily find the cause. Make sure the key is through the antenna when testing for the immobilizer to work.

To differentiate, if the immobilizer was faulty or the key no longer worked the car would start and then immediately switch off +/- 2-3 seconds after starting. The dash lights would all work as normal, except a security light would flash to show that the key was not recognised by the security module.

Lastly check the two big fuses next to the battery. Don just look at them, remove them and inspect them. Replace the fuses if they seem in any way unsatisfactory.

Awe mense. I have a serious problem. My citi golf was at workshop and needed key coding due to immobilizer not recognizing the transponder. So the guys at the workshop ended up taking out my original computer box and inserted their bypass box to start and move the car in and out of the garage. So now, the electrician coded the key and cluster, tested the key and the error was removed but the computer box was not plugged. Cool, then plugged in the bypass box and started the car with no error on dashboard. So after the electrician tested multiple times, it was working just fine. So the workshop guys only realized later that they plugged the wrong box and put in the correct one. Now the immobilizer error is back, so how do I fix this without bypassing?
