AGU Over Heated
Ok so after redoing the complete engine, with a wossner 2.0 stroker kit, the car ran for about 50km without
any issues.
On my drive back from the gym I got a water level warning, stopped and checked water level which was a bit low so decided to drive the car home.
So drove the car home and the heat gauge showed its normal temp. As soon as I parked the car I decided to check why the water level was low.
Found that the bottom radiator clamp broke, engine was running without any water in it .
So I let the engine cool down for an hour or two, filled it up with water again but it did not want to know anything about starting again.
Sounds like there is no compression at all, motor turns around very easily and there is no water in the oil.
So I am thinking the rings must have gotten damage or possible head gasket failure.
any issues.

Re: AGU Over Heated
Ouch - bad luck
This an expensive lesson - on my Land Rover I have a Madman level sensor with buzzer, also fitted after an expensive head job.
If the buzzer makes a noise I stop and check everything.
Amazing how quickly the water vanishes and kills your motor.
Good luck - hope damage is minimal..

Re: AGU Over Heated
Perhaps take a chance and replace the head gasket with an elring and hopefully everything is fine. May be a better solution to re-build the motor and make sure everything is 100%.

Re: AGU Over Heated
Fark sakes but the 20v's are killing themselves. I had endless issues with engineering problems to wrong parts supplied. If the car drove home fine and you parked it, I cant see how it will suddenly not have compression. Maybe do a compression check before removing the head.

Re: AGU Over Heated
The good thing is that it is still turning over.. but as for the compression story... You sure the belt is still intact?

Re: AGU Over Heated
Yip first thing I checked.
Timing belt still 100% in place and timing marks lined up.
Will just have to open up and see wtf is going in there.

Geeez Donovan
This sucks, sorry man.

Re: AGU Over Heated
Just a bit of feed back
Ok so a compression test revealed that there is zero to very little compression on all four cylinders.
Will have to open the engine up for further investigation once I get chance, which will only be in about two weeks time.

Re: AGU Over Heated
Let's hope the bore of the cylinders is still good after that, what you know now is that the rings are probably destroyed from the heat in that case.
Hopefully a little freshen up and a set of rings will resolve this..
