I'm having an issue where vagcom won't read the ECU unless the engine is running . This is a problem as I need to do a throttle body alignment but can't do so as the ignition needs to be turned on but engine off to do this . I suspect some sort of wiring issue is causing this . Any idea where I can start looking ?
The other modules can be read by vagcom with just the ignition on , only the ecu is a problem . I did try removing the aftermarket radio and connecting the vagcom but this didn't help .
Car is a golf 4 gti 1999 (AGU). Thanks in advance for the help .
