Car wont start, intake flap malfunction

Post by Ihry_B »

Morning,

My engine light is on and after diagnostics', it seems that the intake flap is malfunctioning. When I try yo accelerate the car doesn't not allow it and gradually builds up speed. This is an issue for accelerating/pulling off from robots, overtaking which is impossible or whilst just driving in general.

I have 2 questions:

1) what modification or replacement can I do to fix this intake flap malfunction, VW has quoted me R10K plus labour so probably looking around the 15K mark?

2)Would this intake flap malfunction error cause an electrical fault in the car to the extent that it will prevent my car from starting? My car's battery has just been tested and is good, It is at an auto electrician as we speak, they have tested my battery and used another bigger Pajero battery and my car still will not start. They also mentioned that there was some oil in the airbox when they opened it up and they cannot find the issue for this electrical problem and are saying that it is the intake flap malfunction?

Any help or suggestions are welcome :)
