VW Golf 6 GTi ABS speed sensor issue. Please help

Post by Dayknight-VW »

Howsit guys

I’ve got a speed sensor issue on my golf 6 gti. ABS light on, brake light on, EPC and engine light on, power steering light comes on now and then. Fuel gauge goes crazy when I drive and Speedo doesn’t work. I’ve did some research and found out that the abs speed sensor can cause this. I really hope it’s not a wiring or ecu issue. I’ve checked the earth strap as well.

I’ve found a bad speed sensor on my rear left wheel, tested with a multi meter, gives me very high resistance - 18 M ohm. I assume I still have another sensor that’s not reading or a wheel bearing housing that bad.

Which wheel is responsible for the speedo reading? And is there any way to test the output of the sensor with a multi meter? I don’t have a scan tool and I am getting 12v on all wheels.

Thanks in advance

Yes it might be because of a wheel bearing or sensor stuck with steel particles. If you have VCDS you can check values under measure block but cannot remember the values. You need to check this on the ABS control module
